Burn Ordinance

Some residents of Port Byron aren’t aware that Port Byron has an Open Burning Ordinance which clearly specifies what residents can and cannot burn. In an attempt to clarify this matter, the Village is posting this page on the Official Port Byron Website in order to inform them of acceptable and not acceptable items for open burning.

Acceptable Not Acceptable
Leaves Rubbish Fires
Yard Waste Building/Construction Materials
Bonfires* Rags
Wiener Roasts (etc.) Garbage
Hay/Straw or any material producing obnoxious odors

Please help keep our Village air clean for the benefit of all residents and voluntarily comply with and observe the ordinance.

Thank you,
The Village of Port Byron
